I am assuming that most people went to work today with dread and feeling a bit exhausted. It is always difficult to get back on track after a long holiday weekend, especially when you know that you have another short, holiday week in front of you. Who doesn’t love that New Year’s Eve comes a week after Christmas Eve?! It is fabulous in my mind!
Work was a bit slow towards the end of last week. I didn’t work at all on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day. Both days flew by with traveling, errands, parties and spending time with family. I did not even boot up my computer to look for writing assignments. Then on the day after Christmas, I was feeling motivated and knew that I wasn’t getting paid for my holidays, so I got a fare amount of writing done while sitting around with the family. I do have to admit, the quality probably went down a little bit with the distractions of a 6 year old and a 2 year old running past you, compared to when I lock myself into my office at home. But it was completely worth it and I was kind of proud of myself for staying motivated.
Yesterday, I attempted to work but there just weren’t any articles that I felt like writing. I guess all the people needing articles were taking the holidays off too. I woke up this morning concerned that today would go much like yesterday, slow and tedious, but that hasn’t been the case. I have been plenty busy with some good articles to write. It is amazing how much faster (and better) my writing is when it is a topic that I enjoy! I actually will probably finish today as my highest grossing writing day to date—not too shabby!
I just got a call from the place that I tutor through and also agree to nanny for when they are in a bind. They need someone all day tomorrow and half day on Wednesday for two young children. This sounds fabulous! I also have tutoring tomorrow night (which I need to prep for tonight—before our dinner guest (Justin’s cousin) arrives!). With writing, tutoring and watching kids, I should actually make more than my weekly income goal, and that will include taking Friday off. This means I can enjoy my holiday and not feel guilty for not getting paid! Pretty exciting in my world.
Off to write one more article, prepare for tutoring tomorrow evening, and prep for our dinner guest. I love being busy!
To Smile.
