I had to post really quickly because I am so excited about an article I wrote that was picked up and published by Team RadioShack. While this probably means nothing to many of you, those of you who follow professional cycling may understand my excitement a bit.
If you have followed my previous blogs, you will know that I love cycling! I am positive this all began back in 2000 when I studied abroad in Angers, France. Living and studying in France, specifically during the summer months, makes you very aware that there is a major athletic competition going on around the country. We would come out of our classroom and there would be TV’s set up and turned only to live coverage of the Tour de France. At bars, the recaps at night were headlined by that day’s Tour stage. I was sucked in immediately. I love everything related to competition. So, along with several other students, I went and saw some stages. Most importantly, the final along the Champs-Élysées in Paris. This was the year that Lance won his second Tour de France.
Ever since that year, I have followed cycling. With my obsession growing greater and greater every year. The growth of the internet and satellite television has only allowed this to get stronger. I record every stage of all the major (and not so major) Tour’s and Giro’s that I can find on TV. If you happen to be in our house during one of those events, as my mother can definitely attest, you either learn to love cycling or absolutely hate it. Cycling is a very intricate sport that is very very much a team sport. The drama and personalities make it like a soap opera for athletes. And I love it.
I have been following the events of the past week regarding Fat Cyclist and wanted to write an article about what an amazing story was transpiring. I definitely didn’t expect my article to get picked up by Team RadioShack. For those of you who are not in the know, Team RadioShack is Lance Armstrong’s new team for 2010, along with Levi Leipheimer, Yaroslav Popovych, and Andreas Kloden. It is backed by team director, Johan Bruyneel. Johan Bruyneel has been Lance’s team director for each of his seven Tour De France wins. The man works magic and is simply an amazing and caring individual.

Days like these definitely let me know that I made the right choice. So happy, ecstatic and loving that I am doing something I love! Excited my writing and my work is being respected by people that I respect!
To Smile.
