About Me

While we are in one of the worst U.S. recessions ever and people are doing nearly anything to keep employment.

I elected to quit my job, without a new one to go to. I am figuring it out on my own, as my own employer. I have always loved to write, so I decided it was time to become a writer.

Because life is about more than just money?

It is time for me to do what it is I truly love to do.

Happiness Awaits
  • My article has more blue ink marks from my reworking than print. Now i'll need to figure out how to decipher my chicken scratch.

Humble

I daily read a blog called the Happiness Project, which focuses upon finding ways to be happier in your life.  See the connection?  Anyway, Gretchen’s post yesterday had the following quote which really hit home with me, especially after my post earlier today:

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things only hoped for.”

Sounds pretty fitting for me.  I know a lot of my posts must seem fearful, anxious and maybe even a bit like a complaint.  I know I sound like I’m down on myself but that isn’t really the issue.  It is just that I am super motivated in wanting to excel.  Like I continue to say, patience is a trait I am still learning to embody.

This quote definitely means a lot to me because when I take a step back and see where I am and what I am doing, I am so proud of myself and so very, very happy.  I have made this terribly scary decision in life.  Something that months ago I was just dreaming of making.  And here I am, sitting at my house with a cup of tea and wonderful music (I’m currently addicted to Plumb) playing out of my speakers.  I have written multiple articles today, getting paid for all of them and been very content throughout the entire day. Even went to the gym over lunch and had a good swim complete with a nice quick hot tub soak. I need to avoid skipping through the hardworking steps that I am currently in. I am focused on my goals but know that they are just goals, not requirements.  I know that I don’t reach the finish line immediately after starting.

Here are a few goals that I am setting for myself:

  • Current Goals
    • Write 8 articles minimum a day through Textbroker.com if not working on any other project
    • Continue to write articles for Technorati.com on topics that I enjoy
    • Write an article a week for Team Radioshack
    • Submit proposals to at least 5 projects on Guru.com a week
    • Learn additional SEO best practices
    • Earn at least 50% of my previous income weekly
  • 3 month goal
    • Tutoring-have up to 3 students that I am tutoring
    • Double current customer acquisition rate (8%) on Guru.com
    • Earn at least 70% of my previous income weekly
  • 6 month goals
    • Earn 90% of my previous income weekly

Got to start somewhere and might as well keep aiming for the sky, right?

To Smile.

Love, love, love the quote! I’m going to write it down and post it on my fridge. Thanks for listening to me rant on Friday. Today was much, much better b/c I told myself that I would only do the tasks that are required by my job description and nothing more. It was a stress-free day! I came home, did not turn on my computer and decorated a gingerbread house with Emily. :) Can we meet next Monday for Panera tea and internet?

“Got to start somewhere and might as well keep aiming for the sky, right?”

    Abso-friggen-lutely.

  • Looks like you have great goals! I’m excited to see where this journey takes you.

  • You are so motivated and driven! Seriously, for some reason, I have never really written down my goals. (Not sure why….maybe I don’t have many?) :-) I know whatever you do, however you do it, you will be successful at it.

LOVE that quote. As someone whose mind is in the future most of the time (or so it seems), I need to remember that. It’s so easy to say, “I’ll be happy when ___” happens. But really, I guess we have to learn to be happy without that first.
