I am so surprised how hard it is to get someone to call me back. But right now I'm so busy running around with the job search that I'm going to just have to let it be right now. I went by the school district to sub--apparently they forgot to send me the information for the next steps. They sent it last night. Now I may need a Ph D to figure it out. I ended up having to do many follow-up calls and e-mails, that it was a lot of work. I KNOW volunteering is about work...but shouldn't they be returning calls/e-mails ASAP?! Tutoring is so tricky. I found that once I found ONE child to tutor, word spread like wild fire. At one point 2 years ago I was tutoring 5 kids/week! Hopefully once you find one person, word will spread. I bet it would include a lot of baking sweets but I was also envisioning pastas or baking bread. Even making homemade chicken noodle soup or chicken fingers would be fun for kids.
