About Me

While we are in one of the worst U.S. recessions ever and people are doing nearly anything to keep employment.

I elected to quit my job, without a new one to go to. I am figuring it out on my own, as my own employer. I have always loved to write, so I decided it was time to become a writer.

Because life is about more than just money?

It is time for me to do what it is I truly love to do.

Happiness Awaits

New Year’s Eve

It is gorgeous outside here right now!  I love waking up to a blanket of gorgeous, fluffy snow!  Just sets a good tone for the day.  I was supposed to go to the gym this morning and then hit up the grocery store but seeing the icing is still going on, I figured I would delay for a little while, write now, and hit the gym and store up around lunchtime.  I only have a few articles I need to write today to make it so I have made enough money this week and I can take a true day off tomorrow, without feeling guilty, like most other normal people!  I am kind of thrilled by the concept!  It is keeping me motivated and got me out of bed while Justin is definitely still upstairs right now, all warm, cozy and probably snoring.

What is New Year’s without New Year’s Resolutions?  I only have a few in mind and they are only actually 6 month resolutions, because who knows what could happen after 6 months. I can promise you this, if I told myself at the end of 2008 that I would quit my job 3/4 of the way through 2009 and become self-employed, I would have laughed in your face.  Due to that, I figure I can only see so far into the unknown and I will only set goals for the semi-long term.

New Year’s Resolutions

  • Take a trip to Charlotte to see my 9 million friends and siblings that live there
  • Volunteer more, specifically start reading to children with Laura (I’m still holding you to this Laura!)
  • Take a trip to Austin to visit my favorite.
  • Earn more income and take on more challenging writing projects
  • Paint my dining room
  • Learn to wallpaper
  • Take a trip to France in July. Tour de France, here we come!
  • Do more yoga

I think that list looks good enough for now.  There is only so much I can add to a goals list or I get anxious about it.  What can I say, this Type A personality has learned not to overscheduled and plan, otherwise I turn obsessed and act a bit like Lucifer.

Time to get back to crunching out the articles.  If I was done for the day by noon, I will honestly do a few jumps for joy….and maybe a little happy dance.

Enjoy your New Year’s Eve celebrations!  We are keeping it local and spending it in the neighborhood.  Always best to eliminate the need for driving!  It will be wonderful, I am sure!

To Smile.

Your blog keeps me motivated! And I’m glad to see that you have the goal of reading to children on your list. I really, really want (need) to do this to balance out the non-making a difference in this world feeling that my consulting job offers.
