About Me

While we are in one of the worst U.S. recessions ever and people are doing nearly anything to keep employment.

I elected to quit my job, without a new one to go to. I am figuring it out on my own, as my own employer. I have always loved to write, so I decided it was time to become a writer.

Because life is about more than just money?

It is time for me to do what it is I truly love to do.

And What shall I Write

Sorry for being so absent this week. This week has honestly flown by. How in the world is it already Friday?!  It has been one of those weeks where you never can slow down because your to do list is so long that you know there is simply no way to complete everything on your list.  Therefore, a few things had to give, and blogging was one of them.

I have enjoyed being this busy though. Writing has been going well. The company I normally work for simply does not have the articles and work supply that it normally does, so instead I’m writing for fitday.com and 3fatchicks.com. I am enjoying these articles because they focus more on my health/workout interest. The other company pays better, but the articles aren’t nearly as interesting and the editors are much more difficult to deal with. I guess it is a little give and take.

Tutoring has been bizarre this week. I feel like 75% of my clients have cancelled. I think a lot of it has to do with this only being the first week back to school since spring break and the kids simply haven’t learned enough new material to need tutoring.

With all this said, I am definitely not making the 110% of my old salary that I was making. I’m back down to around 90%, which is still good enough to prevent complaining. I have been trying to earn extra to help pay for my France trip. Taking a 3+ week vacation definitely will hit the bank account hard. I will be working while I am there but not enough to a.) cover my normal salary or b.) make up for the cost of the trip. But it’s a once in a lifetime trip, I mean covering the Tour de France and also getting to travel all around backroads of France, Monaco on Bastille Day and day trips to vineyards with the husband.  How can that get better? Plus a week getting to wander around Paris with my mother? These are the reasons why I work!

Anyway….it has been a crazy week but I am really looking forward to this weekend. We are heading to Blacksburg for a low key weekend that will include grilling out and just relaxing. Despite not being at home for three weekends in a row, this will be a slow and easy weekend to help me recharge before heading to California next week.

Enjoy the weekend!

To Smile.

  • Hi! I’m a big fan/lurker of your blog (I was following it over from wordpress) and I thought it was high time I stop being creepy and actually say hello! You inspired me to start blogging for mental clarity again and I’d love to link you on my blog. Let me know and keep up the excellent work! (Lots of exclamation points, aren’t there? Hmmm…maybe another writing workshop is in my future…)
